Koh Tao

We will arrive in this island by ferry from Chumphon. It is advised to take the ferry called Lomprayah which is a kind of catamaran, and which is quite fast as it reaches the island in less than 1h30 minutes time. It costs 900 Bahts to get there from Bangkok, including the bus and the ferry.

Koh Tao is the island by excellence to do some scuba diving and snorkeling. People even call it the turtle island because a lot of turtles come to breed on the beaches.

Rent a Motocross:

To travel around the island, I will rent a motorbike type motocross, which costs 300 Bahts a day. They have some nice Kawasaki 140cc that look cool. It will be very nice to use it in the paths, beaches and forests around in order to reach the destinations that I want.

Scuba-Diving and Snorkeling:

Something that I really want to do is diving with sharks. It is possible to do it in Shark Bay, in the south of the Island and to snorkel with Blacktip reef sharks.

We also have Mango Bay at the North of the island which is a good choice for snorkeling as you can see on the following picture:

Hin Wong Bay, at the North East is beautiful and very good for a snorkeling session to admire fishes of all the colors.

As I will have the motorbike, I will try to do all the best beaches for snorkeling during a full day. The most famous ones for this activity seem to be:

– Sai Nuan Beach (Corals / Fishes / Transparent water = The paradise place)
– Aow Leuk Bay (No Corals but loads of fishes
– Ao Tanot (Difficult to access but calm / Good for cliff jumping + rope to jump)

And then, for the ultimate experience, I might go further and dive with bull sharks with the hope that they won’t be too hungry:

Cliff Jumping:

cliff-jumpingThis small island located in the Gulf of Thailand is also good for other activities such as the cliff jumping.

Indeed, there is a famous place in the East side of the island called Laem Thian beach.

You have to swim from the beach and reach some big rocks in order to jump from a maximum of 12 meters.

The beach is located 45 minutes away from Sairee by walk.

Muay Thaï Course:

There is a fight club which is very famous in this island where they can teach you all the best techniques of Thaï Boxing.

This is the Monsoon Gym and fight Club where you get a professional 1 hour class of Muay Thai for 300 Bahts.

Koh Nang Yuan:

This island located not far from Koh Tao at the extreme North West is a must see.

I will have to take a taxi boat from Sairee Beach which costs 400 Bahts in order to get there and be able to see this wonderful island that you can see on the picture below.
