This city was a former Khmer capital at the 10th century.
To be honest, there are not many things to visit in Lopburi, but it is on my way and it is only located 1 hour away in train from Ayutthaya.
I will probably arrive there after a night in Ayutthaya and visit the main attraction of the town which is associated as the monkey city.
Phra Prang Sam Yot:
Phra Prang Sam Yot is the name of the main temple to visit.
Around and inside the temple, we can find many monkeys that we can feed and play with, but I will have to be careful as they are known to steal your belongings.
The fee to enter the temple is 50 Bahts, and inside, we can see numerous bats.
This is then a good place for people who like animals.
Phra Narai Ratchaniwet
There, we can find the ruins of a palace. This was the palace of the king Narai built in 1666.
The inconvenient is that the conservation of the ruins doesn’t seem to be the best. However it will be worth a visit if I have time.
All the interesting sites can be visited in a half day. Then I will move up north again in the direction of Kamphaeng Phet.
